An Event to Remember
14/01/11 11:56
Well the New Year has started with a bang! We had the opportunity to attend one hell of a show put on by the girls (Charissa & Sarah) from Chique Events in Crown’s Studio 3
Called Extravagant (& rightly so) this was the launch event for Chique and will be an annual affair. The guests were captivated by fashion shows, live acts including an excellent Lady Gaga tribute, great food and dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

PictureMill was there to record the action with a two camera shoot. A promotional clip for Chique Events is being produced that will be available on DVD and of course Chique’s website.

Outback Australia
20/11/10 10:48
We have just returned from a weeks location shooting in the outback of Australia for our friends at APT. It was very interesting to see this remote part of our country as we followed a 4X4 tour from Port Augusta to Wilpena Pound and back.
Apart from a spot of very heavy rain that made some back roads impassable, it was a great outcome with the footage to be used in APT’s new Outback Adventures DVD to be produced in early 2011.
Of course a successful shoot would not have been possible without the very kind cooperation of APT’s traveling guests who were absolutely marvelous & were very happy to help out.
Update: (11/02/2011) The OWA clip can now be viewed on our Video Gallery page.

Going Tapeless
21/07/10 16:54
Well the time has come to take the plunge & go tapeless with our latest acquisition, Panasonic AG-HPX372 & Panasonic HPX300 cameras. Using solid-state P2 technology, these two ProHD cameras record magnificent images in full HD resolution & will streamline the workflow as well as give superior images.
Whilst the cameras can record in DV & DVPro formats shooting in HD will help future proof your footage, so that is something to consider with your next video project.

We will offer our clients a complete backup service of wild footage on hard drive, so there will be no problems of archiving for future projects. At this stage our first shoot with the new Panasonic will be later this month in Sydney at the official launch dinner of Crown Ambassador 2010 & we are looking forward to putting it through its paces.
If you would like to see one of the latest clips for the 2010 Crown Ambassador vintage you will find one in the Video Gallery.

Showing off the World
20/06/10 17:24
Its been awhile since we last updated any news, not that there was none, just so much has happened ovr the last few months it get a little hard to keep up.
One of the projects we have been working on is Australian Pacific Touring’s latest compile DVD that showcases all of their destinations including Australia, New Zealand, Chine, Vietnam, Canada & Alaska, Europe & Russia. Due to the number of destinations included on the DVD & clips showing APT’s history we authored on dual layer disc to keep the quality as high as possible.
Company owner, Geoff McGeary was so impressed with the DVD, he promptly increased the DVD duplication order by 35,000 to 75,000 copies.
You will see shorter versions of all the clips on APT’s website over the coming weeks & of course on Youtube, which is becoming a increasing popular way of promoting travel orientated videos. View a sample of the Canada-Alaska video.

Wings of Ice
24/11/09 00:05
Business associated & script writer Jeff Maynard has just released his second published book, Wings of Ice.
The story of the 1926 race to the North Pole by three rivals, Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsun, American adventurer Richard Byrd & Australian George Hubert Wilkins.

Steeped in controversy & mystery, Jeff’s book attempts to shed light on what events took place in the Arctic wilderness,
Of particular interest is the fact that Wilkins’ aircraft was later sold to Charles Kingsford Smith to become the famous Southern Cross, which completed the first ever trans-Pacific flight
The Picture Mill has created a promotional clip for the web, along with an interview clip by the book’s author. These will be used for promotional purposes by the publisher (Random House).
Jeff’s interview can be viewed here.
